Most of the new printers support Plug and Play technology, while many old printers do not. The steps involved in installing a printer that is attached to your system differ depending on whether it supports Plug and Play.
Note: To install printer that is connected directly to your computer, you must have Administrative rights.
- 1. Connect the printer cable to the appropriate port on your system according to the printer manufacturer's instructions.
- 2. Plug the power cord of the printer into a wall outlet and turn the printer on. Windows detects your Plug and Play printer and in many cases, installs it without requiring you to make any selections. The printer is ready to print.
- 3. If Found New Hardware Wizard appears, follow the steps to complete the procedure.
- Note: You can also install printer by clicking Add a printer under Printer Tasks on the left side of Printers and Faxes.
When you are done, printer appears in the printers and faxes folder. If you want to print a test page, first make sure your printer is switch on and ready to print.
